Iron Chef's Kerry Simon to Open Restaurant at Hard Rock

Posted: Updated:
PALM SPRINGS, Ca. -

``Iron Chef'' competitor and restaurateur Kerry Simon will open a restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs next month, it was announced today. Simon Kitchen + Bar is slated to open in mid September and will feature``social'' plates that encourage sharing, hotel spokeswoman Therese Everett said.

``Palm Springs is hot right now,'' Simon said. ``I'm very excited to be a part of this laid-back, hipster getaway. The menu that I've developed for Simon Kitchen + Bar is a little edgy, a little fun and full of contemporary takes on the comfort foods we all love.''

Simon has been dubbed the ``Rock `n' Roll Chef'' by Rolling Stone. He competed on ``Iron Chef USA'' and ``Iron Chef America'' and has appeared on``Hell's Kitchen.'' He has developed and opened restaurants in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago and elsewhere.

Last year, he revealed he was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy, a neurological disorder that progressively shuts down motor skills and currently has no cure. In February, he hosted a star-studded Las Vegas fundraiser,``Kerry Simon Says Fight MSA.''
