Threatening Message Written on a Bench at College of the Desert has Authorities on Alert

PALM DESERT, Ca. -

Riverside County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a threat written on a bench at College of the Desert.

A student saw the threat Monday afternoon and notified a faculty member who immediately called campus security.

The bench has been removed from the campus and the Sheriff's Department is investigating. The Sheriff's Department is working closely with College of the Desert to respond appropriately to ensure the safety of students and faculty.

Anyone with information about the threat is being urged to contact the Palm Desert Police Department.

Juan Pedro Valladares was last seen in North Palm Springs Friday, when he asked a family member for gasoline money to leave the area, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.``He also made statements indicating he wanted to harm himself,''
