Threatening Message Written on a Bench at College of the Desert has Authorities on Alert

PALM DESERT, Ca. -

Riverside County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a threat written on a bench at College of the Desert.

A student saw the threat Monday afternoon and notified a faculty member who immediately called campus security.

The bench has been removed from the campus and the Sheriff's Department is investigating. The Sheriff's Department is working closely with College of the Desert to respond appropriately to ensure the safety of students and faculty.

Anyone with information about the threat is being urged to contact the Palm Desert Police Department.

    A man suspected of robbing two ice cream vendors and a landscaper in Cathedral City didn't appear in court today, prompting the judge to issue an arrest warrant. Christian Alexander Cervantes, 24, of Cathedral City is charged with three counts each of robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm, one count each of evading arrest, burglary and armed criminal action,

    Palm Springs police sought a hit-and-run driver who left a man in a wheelchair injured today. Police dispatched on a report of an injured man on East Road Road at Paseo Dorotea about 5:40 a.m. found the 53-year-old victim was with a possible head injury, Palm Springs police Sgt. Harvey Reed said.
