YMCA 2018 Be The Hero Campaign Aims to Raise $505K

Family YMCA of the Desert’s Annual Campaign takes place from February 1 through March 7, 2018.

Each year, the Annual Campaign engages volunteers from the Coachella Valley to secure much-needed funding for the many programs and services offered by the renowned organization. This year's goal is $505,000.

James Monroe Elementary School is a part of the Entrepreneurship 805 Graduate School program, Shark Tank.

In Shark Tank, students create their own businesses, operate them, and then present them in the Shark Tank. 

This year’s Entrepreneurship 805 students presented their business plans to a team of judges consisting of Monroe and district staff. This version of Shark Tank allows judges yo provide positive feedback on the student marketing plans.

    A group of employees at the Walmart in Palm Desert were arrested Wednesday for embezzling $25,000 dollars worth of gift cards.

    "These employees were using a fraudulent coupon code. Once they had that code they used it to put money onto a gift card," said Deputy Armando Munoz of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

    The informational event placed itself as a launching pad to give local professionals a headstart on the basics of the upcoming changes and how to implement up to par techniques.
